Decorating a teen bedroom! HELP ASAP!!?

hi. i am in charge of redecorating my teen daughters room and i have no idea where to begin. she wants a "bohmeian" style of bedroom (with colors like a deep purple and gold) with a canopy bed included. i cant seem to find anything she likes.. so if ya'll have any suggestions that would be great! thanks.

Go to www.pbteen.com they have alot of cute teen bedrooms on there in many styles. Some of it is expensive but you can get ideas!

You could have your daughter pick one ( or a similar pattern in purple and gold) and working from there. Or, even better, how about having your daughter find pictures in magazines of patterns, fabrics and furniture she likes and working from that?

Pier 1 Imports on line has a great catalogue!! I am registered w/ them for my bridal registry,,Also You can make ALOT of the materials yourself and include your daughter if you want quality time...go to thrift stores buy old pillows and redo them with fabrics on sale @wal mart!! You can also buy the materials such as tule ,organza atc,,and make your own canpoy with a ring that they have at any craft store....to make the posts if you want to go that way get some cheap pvc and paint it for the posts.you can decorate the walls with any colors you like by buying a gallon or pints of paint adding any color for free at walmart sarting at $5.00&up!!They sell rhinestones in the craft dept that you can paint treasure chests on the wall and glue the stones to-to make a 3d effect.go to any arts &crafts store to buy this paper called Gossemer and you can make curtains out of it and seameless paper if you dont want to paint the walls...You can buy dressers and tables at yard sales to paint and buy the handles @walmart or home depot!! There are a ton of ideas out there I hope I have gotten you off to a good start!!
No offense meant to YOU, your TEEN, or any others who answer... INVOLVE her,,,,,in the process. It is afterall,,,,HER room,. and she may spend a lot of time there, savoring her OWN SPACE. MIld, Wild, Subtle, Animated, SHE is the one who will occupy it. A key phrase in your Q is,,,"I" can't seem to find anything SHE likes... Smiles,,, Get her into the process. It will also be another BONDING technique. AND BTW,,, tastes change as often as weather... The good news is,,, The room can evolve as well. "Likes",,,is relative and suggestive, and again, no offense, but let her decortate, choose, those items she might already envision as "Bohemian" smiles. I'm largely directed, in many ways, by growing up through the 50's and 60's, and my tastes are eclectic, and may not be mainstream, BUT I am the one who has to live with my choices,,,even in decorating. I suggest that the word BOHEMIAN doesn't strictly follow patterns or color choices, and perhaps she would be very ok with choosing the accessories and decorative touches. I lived in the East Village,,,NYC through my 60's college years, pretty much as a Hippie. I had White walls in my tiny apt. but didn't focus on them, as much as how I wanted MY SPACE, to be very personal, and express my interests, etc. at the time. Rev. Steven

You can set the mood of a room in lots of ways, such as lights, and furnishings. There are no hard or fast rules or must-do sequence for this process.
She's a big girl now. Let her find everything. It will be a wonderful learning experience for her. Give her a firm budget, but let her make her own decisions. Time to step back and let her grow up (regardless of what she comes up with).
