My fiance and I can't decide on colours for our bedroom, which colours would be better in a master bedroom?

We're moving in together and we can not agree on colours for the master bedroom. I would like white and pale blue. White to open it up a little more and blue accents. He wants one black wall and the rest a pale yellow. I think the yellow and black will make the room seem smaller. The bedroom is the only room we can't agree on. We've already painted the spare room a pale beige. Any ideas how we can agree on colours?

  1. Tan is a neutral color and will make the house kind of keep a similar look also your probably not thinking of this but when you go to sell the house people will want neutral colors-not so much black and yellow-but blue and white should be fine
  2. Its always nice to have a accent wall. My husband and I own a contracting company for new and remodeling homes. The color that seems to be most appealing is a soft light pastel green. The reason for this is for relaxation and easy to have bed fun. I find that any age group seems to want this color. Try it and see u really might like it
  3. I personally think the colour combination of white and pale blue is better than black and pale yellow. Maybe, its just the way I am imagining it, but yellow and black dont seem to work well together. I would say fight for your side as much as you can! If he still does not give in you could always do white walls with like a yellow/black desgins (line lines or sqaures), therefore you both get what you want.
  4. Why not compromise? Blue and yellow look great together, you could even go with a little bit darker blue, it would not be black but it may give him the same effect. I always think of Provence, France when I see cobalt blue and pale yellow. I big item to keep in mind is the mood you want to create.
  5. black and yellow = strange fellow white and blue = seems boring for a girl like you Go with a light green = its spring you want to be seen Any black goes up on the wall, your relationship will fail (mark my words)
  6. Black and yellow isn't at all restful for a bedroom colour scheme! Paler neutral colours are better, perhaps with one feature wall. A lot depends on how much visible wall space there is once wardrobes and other furniture are in, but black is depressing and cold in a bedroom, and it makes the room appear smaller. Your ideas for this room are so far apart that I don't think you will find a scheme that you agree on. One of you is going to have to give in! If you can get him to change his mind from black to brown you could have a feature wall in chocolate brown - that's a nice warm colour and you could still have blue accents. Brown and blue is very popular at the moment and you would have a good choice of bedding and curtains to tie it all together.
