How can I decorate my bedroom with chocolate brown carpet?

We are building a new home and my father really wanted chocolate brown carpet. We will only have carpet in the bedrooms, and it does look really pretty, but it is concerning. I need tips on decorating without making it look tacky. I wanted my bedroom to have a modern feel. I wanted to buy either black or white bedroom furniture. The walls will be painted a creamy beige color. Any good tips or advice out there? Please help!!

  1. how would you decorate a bedroom with chocolate brown carpet? buy some chocolate brown carpet
  2. Light Blue with Tan and White. I didn't notice if you were male or female. One cool trick is to go into a place like bed bath and beyond and look at items that are designed and have the chocolate brown and then use the accent colors for your room. Example: A throw rug, a placemat, a bedspread, etc. These are items that have patterns with matching colors in them and they have done the color guesswork for you! I have a friend that's a designer and she buys things like a pillow case or dish towel that has a group of colors and uses JUST THE COLORS to make those design decisions. After a while, you will notice that everything around you is in color groups and you will start to get familiar with each color group. Good Luck.
  3. Use sage green, rust orange, and burgundy. Cherry wood or Mahogany is nice for furniture. but your rooms are going to look small with the dark carpet and you will have to chose things you may not necessarily want, but just to lighten the room.. Black or white bedroom furniture will make it look tacky with that carpet. Those are two totally different styles. Brown can be modern if you use light blues, pinks, and taupes to offset the carpet. Bad choice for carpet though. You gotta tell your dad to look at the big picture. A nice light neutral carpet will allow you both to be creative with furniture, walls, and lighting. A dark carpet will limit you and make your space less expansive.
  4. I would go with teal, aqua or turqoise as an accent color. You need to balance the dark chocolate with a lighter color. I think cherry or mahogany furniture might look better than stark white or black. Add beige and cherry red for a pop of color. An Asian inspiration like cherry blossoms looks great with these colors. Make sure your window coverings are a light color and fabric. Keep the room light, bright and airy as chocolate and beige in the wrong room can be depressing.
  5. I would go with the white furniture. And to add color I would go with blue bedding & drapes (that silvery blue that's in) Or the bright green that is in. and to tie either of those colors in.....add chocolate brown throw pillows. It is easy enough to find wall art to tie all the colors in together. Good luck!
  6. There is a colour that is very popular with Chocolates and Beige and it is called Duck Egg Blue. Its not sky Blue it is more of a brown blue. Or the other one is Teal it goes really well as well. Here is some pictures of the colours so you know what i mean. http://www.kimtdesigns.com/products/floral-duck-egg-blue-50cm-x-76cm http://www.kimtdesigns.com/collections/blue-teal-wall-art?page=2 I think these pictures will help you make up your mind. Have fun decorating
  7. I would say use brown, white and turquoise with white furniture. For a wall color I would go for a light turquoise or blue; for baseboards and trip go white and for furniture I would go white with turquoise; for accessories use a variety of brown an white and blue to tie everything together. This will help break up the dark color of the carpet and give you a well put together look. A friend on mine writes a design blog and she suggested this page for more ideas: http://blog.forrent.com/apartment-decorating-tips/power-color-for-home-decor-turquoise
