- Well they should not be sharing a room at that age its not a good idea........
- Give them both there own corners and ask design their space around a specific interest. Find a print pertaining to an author or sport that your child loves, and hang it over the bed. Have them choose their bedding in their favorite colors. In the Northeast, we have a store called the Container store, take them to a stote similiar to it and have them choose some neat storage ideas to keep toys organized. Maybe two bins for laundry by the door. You can make the room alot of fun. Good luck!
- Split the room in two and let each of them decorate thier own side. The 10 year old would probably love to be allowed to paint her own walls, and it is really cool for younger children to place thier hands in paint and put their handprints on the wall... they are only that size once and its nice to have the reminder and comparison!
- I'd say go kind of neutral. Eventually one of them will probably get single occupancy, and then that one will want to redecorate. So for now, pick out a pretty, neutral color like a light green or blue for the walls and let everything else fall into place. I prefer plain wood furniture, but if the kids want things in their own colors they can do that too.
- . my kids share a room, my daughter is 6 and my son is 2 i painted it all cream then made the large cupboard we had into a cabin bed, "princess bed" with all sparkly voile pinned to the interior and lights all the way around, then i painted a jungle scene above my sons bed on the wall. i also brought blank canvas (£2.99 in home bargains) and let them paint them however they wanted to and put them on the walls so its very fitting for both and looks great against the neutral cream and it was really cheap
- Use different colors that are unisex (like red, cranberry, yellow). I suggest you let the kids pick a favorite color they agree on and decorate the boy's side witht he darker shade and the girl's side a lighter shade. You can find different stick-ons for each side of the room (in a central theme of course). You can go to http://www.wallnutz.com/index.html and pick a 'color by number mural' or wall stickies to decorate the whole room. I find that kids are into animals (maybe a jungle, tropical, or horses and ponies theeme see below) Good Luck!! I also found this great site where they offer dividers and ideas to share the bedroom with different themes http://kidsthemebedrooms.com/shared-bedrooms/decorating-shared-bedrooms-for-boys-and-girls.html For the little girl, Raggedy Ann folk art primitive country style with Americana stars and stripes for the little boy Celestial Moon and Stars for the girls side of the room and Outter space with spaceships for the boys side. Grazing horses, stable theme for the girl and the boys side of the room Country Farm animals and tractor theme Mermaids and Fish for the girl and dolphins, sharks, whales with a nautical or Pirate theme for the boys Princess theme for her royal highness and Knights and dragons for the young Prince. What about a fun circus carnival teamed up with a carousel horse theme
- One good idea to add to the room is a divider. At that age they should have their own room but I'm sure there is a reason for the sharing so just divide the room with a divider. HGTV.com has plenty of ideas u can work with.
- The kids can come with you to pick out sheets and comforters. You can find coordinating pieces and accents. After that, you have the theme for each side. Pain the room a color that will match both their ideas. Enjoy
- i think they are a bit to old to be sharing aroom , unless tere is a partition
