  1. well my room is always cold although i just have a fan on all the time
  2. I used to live in a house that had only a window A/C unit in the living room and the bedrooms would be uncomfortable so I placed a box fan in the hallway and let the cool air from the living room blow down the hall to the bedrooms in back. It would help a lot especially after an hour or so of circulation time.
  3. Well first of all turn off all electronics that you don't need that may be generating lots of heat. i'd guess that you have carpet. Carpet can make your room feel much hotter as well
  4. I had a bedroom just like yours too. Check around the windows and see how good the seal is. Mine was pouring in hot air so fast, it could just about blow out a candle. I stuffed newspapers in the cracks and it stopped it. Also check around the entrance to the attic. Most of the time it is located in the hall near the bedrooms or even in a bedroom closet. Heat could be pouring in from it too.
  5. There are quite a few things. First, caulk your windows and make sure no outside air is coming in. Hot air can come in between the panes too. A little hole lets in more hot air than you can believe. The second thing is insulation. Do you have any in the attic? That helps keep the heat out big time. The other thing to keep out is light. Light is heat. You could put that film over your windows and that reflects the sun back out and lowers the light in the room. It also gives you privacy. Here lots of people put up aluminum foil to keep the sun out. It looks trashy but works. If you have curtains, add those $4 blinds and leave them closed during the day or heavy drapes or both. The other thing is to plant things outside that will shade the outside of the house and the roof if you can. Shade is a real good thing. Anther trick is to open your a/c vent all the way and close the one a bit in the living room. That will force more a/c in your room. And the last thought, when you turn on a ceiling fan, the air at the ceiling is quite a bit hotter than the room. . .especially if you are short on insulation. Sometimes it is better to blow the air across the room and leave the hot air at the top. I like the ceiling fan tho because I have a window unit and it just blows that cold air all over me. Oh and you may want to just consider getting a window unit for your room. It will give you the cold boost you need. You can pick up a little 5000 btu unit for under a hundred and I just bought a 8000 btu GE for $159. Do not buy Haier. They are junk. And another thought. . .those old tapestries hanging in castles. . .they were actually insulation. If you have a wall that the afternoon sun hits, hang something on the wall to help keep the hot out. . .at least while that tree is growing.
