- The pictures are a great source of inspiration, true - but they don't tell you how to get that look in your room. My advice is to do a google image search for say 'bedroom designs'. Better than looking at individual websites. However there is more to decorating than looking at pictures. You can check out my site (and other similar sites) for more detailed guidance.
- I too love warm colors and a cozy feel and have experimented with faux paint as well as Venetian plaster techniques. Unless you're replacing your furniture, you need to factor that into the design process. Since my bed is large and made out of dark wood, I used woven shades along with dark walnut drapery hardware to balance out the weight of the bed. Woven wood shades are pretty hot right now, either alone or combined with drapes, and they can really warm up a room. I found a site that was super inexpensive for custom sizes and went with a color called "Jamaica Walnut" and a dark brown privacy liner. You want to go with a privacy or blackout liner for a bedroom as it makes it easier to sleep in, it's more energy efficient and looks more expensive. If you want to design your space for romance, you need to think about making the bed the focal point. Use fabrics that are soft to the touch and if room allows, have a small settee or love seat with a table for beverages. In addition to the walls, painting your ceiling in a contrasting warm color like caramel or turquoise really cozies it up. lots more ideas, photos, plus romantic bedroom decorating ideas on the links below....
