What is the best colour to paint a bedroom?

I was going to paint my bedroom walls a deep red with white as the secondary colour (borders/doors). The only problem is red is an aggressive colour and I doubt it would go well with a bedroom. Does anyone have experience with red bedrooms or have any recommendations for bedroom colours?

  1. I recommend a creamish color. it looks really really nice. or light brown :).
  2. ALL BLACK
  3. My bedroom is a bright red and I personally love it! It all depends on what you want most, if you want a red bedroom, then paint your room red! If it seems like an agressive color to you then tone the red down to a softer color, but it's all up to you and what you like.
  4. Red is supposed to be an exciting color; therefore not the best for going to sleep. The most common color is supposed to be blue for bedrooms, but some people think that pretty blah. I think soft sage is a pleasant color, the new "neutral" and easy to pair colors with in decorating. Also, if you paint your bedroom red and later decide to paint OVER it, it will take many coats of primer and paint to cover up...
  5. Blues and greens are very soothing and relaxing colors therefore perfect for bedrooms. Go to my webpage Choosing Room Colors and learn about the effects color has on you. http://www.interior-decorating-diva.com/ChooseRoomColor.html
  6. A yellow, or maybe a green.
  7. You may want to consider a "neutral" color, you can always change your accessories. Grey/s are neutral, white still works, then use the reds as accents. There are some really nice Grey/s, with undertones. Dove Grey to Metallic Tin color.
  8. red is an aggressive color- The question is what do you like? What is the mood you would like in you bedroom? If you want to be safe: I would stick with a neutral tone- a beige, a smoky taupe, a creamy tan, etc- THEN add the color into your room with your accessories. That way, you can always change the room by your accessorizing: such as- red curtains, pillow, accents- when you get tired of the red, simply change out the pillows and curtains. You can also play around with the accesories and find out what color you really do like- turns out, if you don't like the colors red- well then all you have to do is go return the accessories and swap them out for another color as opposed to having to repaint an entire room.
  9. I like plain flat white ... I have colored lightbulbs and "un-candles" which are floating oil lamp wick holders that you put in a glass 3/4 full of water with food coloring, then top off the colored water with lamp oil and use like a candle in a glass, the colored water causes the flat white walls to look colored ... an easy way to change your wall's color without repainting.
