Toy storage ideas for kid's room?
We have a couple of full-sized book shelves in our living room, the bottom two shelves of each which have been devoted to toy storage. My 4 1/2 year old has enough space in his bedroom to accommodate them all now, and since his friends that come over are old enough to play in his room with out needing constant adult supervision, I want to shift most of those toys into his room. What do you use for toy storage in your kid's rooms? My first thoughts are to pick up a couple of the tupperware-esq drawers, or a utility type shelving unit, but both are pretty bad aesthetically speaking and a bit ghetto. Should I be looking for a deep book shelf instead? What do you use?

- We use the storage drawer carts from walmart, you can get them in different colors, we have the red and black ones and I think they look nice in my kids playroom which is decorated with a lot of red and black, the walls are white with red trim and there is a black 12 inch stripe going around the middle of the wall and they have skateboard stick ons and posters with red trim in there. My son keeps his legos and vehicles in them and they keep the toys organized, I don't think they are ghetto at all but that's just me. We also have a couple of baskets to store larger toys like big trucks etc...
- i would duct tape every thing to the ceiling.............
- In our toy room we have a bookcase for books, a toy box, a couple of baskets, and a tall book shelve looking thing that has fabric boxes in it. Is his bed off the floor? Under the bed boxes might be nice?
- We have a toy net attached to the corner ceiling for their stuffed animals, a plastic storage drawer unit for small toys, like one drawer for legos, one for race cars, one for barbies, etc. and shelves in their closets for larger toys, I dont think it looks "ghetto" and it doesnt look bad at all, keeps everything neat and organized and easy to access.
- Under the bed drawers. They make units that are part of the bed itself and ones that are wood and are on casters and look nice. Like: http://woodgears.ca/drawers/under_bed.html If you have room for a double deep bookcase, that's a great way to store books. My son has a toybox that I made for him that doubles as a bench. It's furniture grade so he can use it for afghans if he wants when he's an adult. Keep an eye out for good quality furniture at thrift stores and just paint it to match. Much better quality than the chintzy Ikea crap.
- My sons only 12 weeks so no need for this yet but when my little sister was 2 she had so many toys there was no space to do anything. My mum got her a huge treasure chest sort of thing, like a dressing up box. They can be quite expensive but it makes the house so much tidier and allows everything to be in one place and then they can get as they please. - We use large plastic buckets that can come in many different colours. They are soft, but tough don't have any small pieces and best off all cheap. http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/256118757/Multi_function_plastic_bucket.html
