- My stepdaughter wanted a retro wall too...we considered painting but came up with another solution... A lava lamp wall. We bought different colored sheets of contact paper, cut them into shapes of lava like you would find in a lava lamp and put them up on the wall. It looks pretty cool and wasn't very expensive. I want to add that it SHOULD come off easily and with no damage by using a hair dryer to heat and release the glue from the wall. I had one section I did NOT like so I broke out the hair dryer, removed the piece easily with NO damage and put up a fresh piece.
- well it depends what year you like i like the 1960's i am a big fan of edie sedgwick. but what you can do is. get posters of that year and what happ. in it and frame them and put them on your wall.good luck-
- You definitely want to nail any mid-size appliance to your wall which came with instructions which, on the cover, stated explicitly that the appliance was "electric"...like "electric toaster" or "electric blender". The kitchen culture of the 1950s turns me on like the 1974 Mr. Coffee Automatic-Drip Coffeemaker.
- You could purchase old Record Albums from thrift stores, flea markets, etc.. and decorate the entire wall with Album covers. There are some crazy covers out there!! In fact, I read about some guy who bought an old album for a couple of dollars and found out it was worth hundreds of thousands!!
- Post curtain rods.. and hang up funky curtain fabric to the wall... like Tie-Dyes ( that's retro). Be creative... go to the fabric store and find crazy prints, shags in different hot colors (neon, hot pink) and post it on the wall. If you dont want to have holes on the wall, get sticky velcro tape. That way, if you're sick of the print, you can just pull it out and stick up a new print .
