widows media center?
is there a way to install media center with out restarting your computer. By this i mean just install it as a program instead of a whole new windows so i can still kepp my programs and files? Or will i need to get another computer (i have a spare) and put it on there. The only reason im trying to put it on this is to test it to put on another computer that i will connect to a tv and sky and cd player to tidy my media stuff in my bedroom.

- You won't lose your files if you upgrade to the OS you want. But installing it as a program is... impossible, at least from the operatiobng system
- If you have a spair I would suggest it, you will be amazaed at how quickly you become attached to it, and use it as your primary tv viewing device Yes you either have to upgrade the os, or do a new install. Media Center(Microsofts version) is only bundled with the operating system. Some versions of Xp had it, and Vista Home Premium and Ultimate have it built in. Now there are other alternatives, most of them I find better. These are just stand alone programs that have about the same functionality as Media Center. They can be ran on regular Xp. The free ones I like are.. www.team-mediaportal.com www.gbpvr.com Non free www.sagetv.com www.beoyndtv.com (this one is only a pvr program, dosnt have the media center interface, but is one of the best tv programs out there)
