Bedroom decorating ideas?

I am 16 years old and we are moving into a new house next fall. I cant decide between an ocean theme, sequin/sparkle theme, or outdoor star type theme. My carpet will be light blue. Please give me any ideas.

  1. well if your carpet is definalty goin to be blue then i'd go with th ocean theme maybe mix several pretty blue's and aquas fro the room as well
  2. a pale color is great to paint your walls. try a pretty chandiler for light, and some colorful pillows that wont go out of style.
  3. I Like Glam's Idea. I Had An Ocean Theme I Got Tired Of It Really Early On. I Think The Sequnce Sparkle Look Would Be Nice.
  4. If you live in a sunny area I'd definitely go with the ocean theme! Get a pail and put some sparkly sand in it and add some seahshells on top, you could use it as a center piece on a coffee table! :-)
  5. Assuming your only limitation is light blue carpet, you've got plenty of options for your new bedroom. And you're in luck, because all shades of blue look good together: from baby blues to dark midnight navy. Plus, blue brings to mind the sky and the ocean, so either of your nature-themes will work well. If you decide to choose an ocean theme, a palette of light blue carpet with sand-colored walls and crisp, white bedding will give you instant beach style. For window treatments, sheer curtains or linen fabrics will give you a breezy, beach vibe. What's great about neutral-colored walls is that you can add any color you want in your accessories, and it's guaranteed to look good. Silver picture frames, or slightly distressed wood furniture would also look great in a beach room. If you want the outdoor theme, any green goes well with blue, so you can add green lamp shades, window treatments and pillows in to the mix. If this is your style, a gauzy bed canopy over your headboard would look great. For accessories/furniture: Chocolate brown is classic with blue, or you could go sunny with yellow and blue. Color theory even says that yellow improves intelligence! If you decide on the sequin/sparkle theme, the key would be to pick opalescent, shimmering grays, off-whites (like mother-of-pearl) and light pinks to set off your light blue carpet. I own a pair of sequined white curtains, and I love them because they help reflect light around the room (which is great for small spaces). Also, definitely get a mirror and make sure you have lots of mood lighting in your bedroom so your color palette sparkles.
