- Ok this was based on a child's bedroom but I think alot of the principles work well for any adult bedroom. Keep the bedroom simple and clean. The bedroom is for rest and relaxation. Place the bed farthest from the door preferably on a solid wall. The child should see all people entering the room when lying in the bed. No mirrors Keep computers, televisions, video games out of the bedroom. If you really want them in the rooms place them behind screens or in closed off armoires. Have a neutral paint color. Chose from the blues, greens, beige and light yellows. Accessorize with their favorite things. Have a good blind on the window to close at night or when they want privacy. Soften the windows with carefree drapes. Buy good quality beds. Preferably out of pure wood such as pine and oak. Stay away from beds that wobble. Have a light for the entire room and individual table lamps. Limit the amount of toys and clutter in the room. Hide the toys in boxes under the bed and in the closet if space is limited. Choose soft, relaxing bedsheets and comforters. Stay away from the bright colors. To brighten the room use lighting or place a bright cover on the bed during the day. Keep garbage out of the bedroom. All waste should be placed outside the room in the appropriate containers. Place stars on the ceiling to bring in the night sky. Play soft music in the rooms about an hour before they retire. Do this even if they are not in the room. It lowers the energy, making the room more suitable for sleep. Keep active night animals out of the bedroom such as hamsters. No fish tanks or fountains. Design the room around the eight life areas. School is in the Northeast sector. Place their desk, books or school bag in this area. Family is in the East sector. Place a family picture here showing great love and happiness. A good photo is the candid shot taken on your summer vacation. Helpful people is in the Northwest sector. Place a photo of their mentor. Creativity is the West sector. Place their drawings or creative papers in this section. Abundance is the Southeast sector. Place a fake or real plant here or their piggy bank. Health is the center of the room. Keep the room free flowing. Imagine pouring a glass of water into their room. Where does the water go? Allow your children to participate in the design of their rooms. Keep phones out of the bedroom. Open the windows regularly to allow fresh chi into the room. Place a hanging crystal in the window. It will shine a variety of colors all over the room. Kids room should feel safe and comfortable. A place to be themselves. The room should have many of the yin qualities at night. The above tips are able to transform the room from a yang room in the day to a yin room at night.
- everything satynmist said ... she just about covered it all! :0 you go girl
- Well, first, if your bedroom is a suite, or has a bathroom nearby, keep it as far away as you can from the bathroom. It is said that since a bathroom is the place to poop all the bad stuff out (no offense), it means that you will get sick and stuff. Next, paint or color or do something in you room to make it a nature green. green is relaxing to the eyes, thats why many nurses use it as their uniform. Also, try not to put anything that will hurt your eyes (example: computer, TV) next to your bed.
- ehow.com has good suggestions not only for your bedroom but like your office (if you have one) and stuff.
- some new paint, less clutter, a new scent may help too. Good Luck
- Feng Shui 101 Bedrooms As the saying goes: "The best wine is reserved for the last part." We have reached the penultimate topic of the Form School of Feng Shui which is the third most important factor of Yang Feng Shui — the bedroom. The bedroom is where we spend one third of our lives. It should be treated as a sanctuary from the daily hassles and pressures of modern living. It is here where we can regain our lost energies. It is also here that the foundation of a happy marriage is built. The loving and harmonious energy built up by the beautiful marital interactions between the husband and wife is created in the bed and this energy permeates the bedroom. This is why it is so important that this energy be preserved. In an irregular-shaped bedroom, the pressure exerted by the shape of this room on the bed is jagged and aberrant which disperses whatever loving energy is created. A room with cracked walls also can not hold the chi of the bedroom and it gives the impression of a cracked relationship. A bedroom door that opens to a bed disperses the chi of the bed especially if a staircase is in line with the bedroom door. Should the stairs run down towards the bedroom door then the 'chiong' of the door to the bed is reinforced. The cure is to hang a convex mirror over the door facing the staircase. If the bedroom door opens to a staircase that runs down to a lower level, then the chi of the bedroom is dragged down every time the bedroom door is opened. The cure is to hang a concave mirror over the door facing the staircase. When two bedroom doors face each other, this is one of the causes of family bickering between the occupants of these two rooms as both doors competes for the chi. Worse if the door opens to a bed. When the door opens to a portion of the bed, it will manifest in arthritis in the part of the sleeper's body that is being hit. If a bathroom door opens to a bed and hits the sleeper's body this will often result in a urinary tract infection of the sleeper. The cure is to move the bed out of range of the door or to place a divider in between the bed and the door to act as a shield. A bedroom door in line with a kitchen door will suck into the room unhealthy chi from the kitchen and could adversely affect the health of the sleeper. The cure is to install an automatic door closer on the kitchen door. The bed being an important element in Feng Shui should have backing in order for the sleeper to enjoy a good quality of rest. A bed that is not flush to a wall has no backing and will make the sleeper feel tired even after long hours of sleep. The cure is to push the bed to the wall. A window behind a bed has no backing. This could affect the psychological security of the sleeper. A Venetian blind on the window with the slats turn upward can solve this problem. Energy escapes behind the bed when the bed is diagonally placed across a corner of the bedroom. The remedy is to have shelves built to fill the corner. This will act as backing to the bed. The adage: "As in front, so behind." applies to the placement of a bed. Mirror reflects light and light is energy, reflected lights or images in Feng Shui connotes movement of energy. A mirror in front or behind a bed that reflects the sleeper will affect his/her energy field thus depriving him/her of a good rest. This usually result in the sleeper waking up tired. The cure is to cover the mirror with a curtain or move the mirror to a position that does not reflect the bed. A stove placed behind a bed results in the sleeper waking up 'hot-headed' as he is affected by the fire chi of the stove. The cure is to move the bed. The adage: "As above, so below" is also applicable to the bed. In Toilet we learned that a water closet placed above a bed is not a healthy arrangement. So does a full length mirror on the ceiling above the bed. This gives the sleeper an impression that he is bed-ridden everytime he opens his eyes. The cure is to remove the mirror. In order to have quality rest, the pressure exerted by the surroundings around the bed should be uniform. An exposed beam over the headboard of a bed exerts pressure on the head of the sleeper. This could be the reason he/she is always heavy headed and experiences recurring migraine. It is also the same effect when a hanging cabinet is placed over the bed. An exposed beam that cuts the bed in half can adversely affect the marital relationship. The couple sleeping under it will subconsciously move away from the center of the bed to avoid the unseen pressure created by the beam thus distancing themselves from each other in bed. This is not conducive to a loving relationship. When a bed is under a staircase, the energy pattern created by people climbing the stairs is established and will have an effect on the sleeper. This will exacerbate the pressure created by the slant of the staircase on the bed. The connotation is that the sleeper is being walked over by everyone and this will affect his fortune. If a person feels he is agitated for no reason at all and flares up easily then it is not a bad idea to check if his bed is on top of a stove. This is synonymous to sleeping on a hot plate as the fire chi from the stove accumulates beneath the bed. The cure for the above cases is to move the bed to a position that is clear of the aforementioned violations. The bed should have no moving lines of energy beneath it as this will affect its stability and consequently the quality of sleep. It is very obvious why the sleeper does not feel rested even after a long sleep. Water beds are not approved in Feng Shui, aside from having continuous motion and not being stable, the water chi which is yin will hamper the circulation of the yang chi within one's body that is needed to recharge and restore oneself. A marriage that shows signs of instability could also be traced to having a bed placed on the cantilevered portion of the house. As there is no support or solid foundation beneath the bed, the relationship will be shaky. The pillar on the ground floor supports the bed and this is not considered to be cantilevered. A garage beneath a bedroom is not recommended for the reason that the daily revving up of the automobile will produce unhealthy gases that will be trapped inside the bedroom. Elders' room is recommended to be placed on the ground floor to avoid the aged from climbing the stairs several times a day which is not good for their heart and blood pressure. A bedroom in the basement is unhealthy because it is yin. The chi above the ground is yang, it is considered to be yin when it is below the ground. That is why the Feng Shui for the Dead is called Yin Feng Shui and the Feng Shui for the Living is known as Yang Feng Shui. Aside from being damp in the basement it is not savory to be reminded that one is sleeping six feet under.

- Nothing relaxes and soothes the senses like the sound of running water and a Haiku Designs decorative fountain. Running water not only creates a pleasing and relaxing sound but also produces negative ions freshening and moistening the air, reducing dust and allergy causing airborne pollution particles. Our Haiku Designs fountains have been specifically designed to produce the gentle sound of falling water, while at the same time creating a look of aesthetic beauty and simplicity. Each fountain incorporates all three essential life elements found in Feng Shui an including natural stones representing earth, water falling representing water, and metal representing sky. What this means is that our fountains are not only beautiful art pieces but they can be used for Feng Shui cure purposes, moving stagnant "Chi." Try one of beautiful Haiku Designs fountains in your "Success" or "Relationship" areas of your home or office to induce and increase the flow of life force into these areas.
